Electronic books (e-books) work differently than print books. Here are some tips.
When searching for e-books in the URSUS catalog, you want to search for the e-books USM students can access:
- click on Advanced Search,
- for Location select University of Southern Maine Libraries
- for Material Type select ebook
- click on a title
- USM students can click on links that say - USM Access, UM System-wide Access, and Maine InfoNet
If you want an e-book that is not accessible to USM students, you cannot Request the e-book. However, if the e-book is available in print, you can Request it. Search in the URSUS catalog to see if the book is available in print from another library so you can Request it. If unavailable from URSUS, search MaineCat and Request if available. Finally, if needed search WorldCat and Request via Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad).
